We are recruiting and would love to hear from passionate and motivated individuals who want to become practicing Social Workers within Hull Children Young People and Families. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a Social Care setting whilst studying for your degree by undertaking a fully funded apprenticeship, allowing you to become a qualified Social Worker at the end of the 3-year course.
These are opportunities are within Children’s Social Care with posts specifically created to ensure that you receive the right mix of on-the-job experience whilst still having the time to commit to studying.
You will attend University one day per week for the academic delivery of the programme modules.
You will be supported by a university tutor who ensures the consistency of the programme and undertakes assessment of your performance throughout the programme with regular reviews.
You will be supported by a Workplace Mentor who will be based within your team and will provide regular support and supervision whilst you are on placement within the team. Your workplace mentor will also have oversight of your day-to-day conduct, the work, and tasks you are undertaking and in ensuring you are being provided with positive learning and development opportunities.
In addition to this you will be fully supported by the social work academy who provide will provide regular peer review meetings and supervision, learning opportunities and training throughout the three-year programme.
You will be assessed throughout the 3-year programme during frequent reviews, observations, feedback, and the submission of academic assignments relating to the modules studied.

The apprenticeship opportunities are open for internal applicants, and it is expected the successful candidates will move into apprenticeship posts.
The applications will be shortlisted on the 9th April 2025 and then be offered to attend a joint assessment centre process with Hull Children Young People and Families Social Care and Hull University on the 28th and 29th of April 2025. The assessment centre days will consist of a combination of written exercises and a formal interview which will further give the applicant an opportunity to share with their ability to meet the requirements of the post, in addition to sharing their skills and what they possess and wish to bring to the position of an apprenticeship social worker.
Due to the academic nature of the position, it is a requirement to evidence the applicants hold relevant GCSE standard (Grade C/Level 4 or above) in English and Maths or Literacy& Numeracy Award equivalent (Level 2 of the National Qualification Framework). Evidence of these qualifications must be presented on the day of the assessment workshop, failure to provide these would result in the offer to attend the assessment centre to be withdrawn.
Successful applicants will be committed to engaging in the academic and practical study whilst undertaking the apprenticeship programme.
