Role: Child and Young Person’s Practitioner (Missing and Vulnerable Children)
Based: North Yorkshire – Hull&East Riding
Rate: £30,000 – 32,000pa
Start Date: ASAP – Dec 2025/ Jan 2026
Duration: Permanent
Hours: 37
Based: Home Based with paid travel for across Hull and East Riding for work purposes
Our client, a national Children's Charity, is looking for a Child and Young Person’s Practitioner to work with children aged 10 -17 who have been identified as vulnerable and found on the rail network.
You will be working with children/ young people across Hull and East Riding and will work with various partnersand professionals to reduce risks to young people on the rail network.
You will be working in partnership with British Transport Police (BTP) and the UK rail industry and will be working with children with a range of needs including Child Sexual Exploitation, Child Criminal Exploitation/ County Lines, Family Breakdown, Domestic Abuse, Neglect, Substance Misuse, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Suicidal Ideation.
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
Deliver a range of early interventions to young people in both groups and in a 1:1 setting, exploring issues such as safety planning, running away/ going missing, county lines, exploitation, mental health, relationships, communication, self-esteem, and well-being
Make appropriate onward referrals, signpost young people to support services and positive activities, and identify creative solutions to challenges faced by the young person
Hold an ongoing caseload of young people, conducting assessments in order to plan interventions and deliver tailored support on a 1:1 basis
Work with other professionals to advocate on behalf of young people and their families, ensuring their safety and well-being always remains central
Deliver awareness-raising sessions to groups of young people
Work with the British Transport Police and rail industry colleagues to ensure young people at risk are identified and receive support
Essential Requirements:
Experience of providing planned, structured support to vulnerable young people and families in 1:1 and group settings
Track record of developing relationships with a variety of organisations to support the needs of vulnerable young people and families and advocate on their behalf
Experience and understanding of case management including assessment, action planning and reviews
Relevant qualification in an appropriate discipline e.g., youth work, youth justice, counselling, social care etc or equivalent work experience
