The School in Bradford is seeking an inspirational and experienced Director of Learning - English to lead its thriving English department from September 2025. Position Details
Location: Bradford
Contract: Permanent from September 2025
Pay Rate:£31650 - £49084 (+9782) MPS/UPS + TLR 1Essential Requirements
Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification
Demonstrate substantial leadership experience within a secondary school setting.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).Desirable Skills
Knowledge of the latest developments in English teaching and learning.
Confidence in using educational technology to enhance learning.
Experience delivering whole-school literacy initiatives.
The ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Show commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
Be an outstanding practitioner with a deep understanding of English curriculumResponsibilities
Develop and implement an ambitious English curriculum that inspires students of all abilities.
Lead the English department to deliver consistently high-quality teaching and learning.
Establish clear strategies to improve student outcomes in English at KS3 and KS4.
Monitor and evaluate teaching practices to ensure excellent standards.
Support and mentor staff within the English faculty to improve their professional practice.
Ensure the consistent delivery of engaging lessons that inspire curiosity and creativity.
Provide clear and supportive feedback to staff to foster development.
Ensure accurate record-keeping of student data to inform teaching strategies.
Organise and oversee external assessments and examinations in English.
Foster strong relationships with external agencies and partners to enhance learning opportunities.What We Offer:
