Account Manager– Fresh Vegetables and Exotics Location: Birmingham, UK (Travel required both domestically and internationally) Position Type: Full-time / Permanent This a central role working for a respected leading importer, packer, and distributor of fresh vegetables and exotic produce. They are committed to delivering high-quality products to their long-standing clients, including UK Retail and some non-retail outlets. Role Overview: The Account Manager will play a pivotal role in managing, developing their current client base and expanding, exploring new opportunities within the fresh vegetable and exotic produce sector. This role requires a blend of strong sales skills, excellent communication, and an understanding of the fresh food supply chain. Key Responsibilities: * Client Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, including supermarkets and other outlets. * Market Analysis: Analyse market trends and interpret data to identify opportunities and threats. * Sales Growth: Drive sales growth by identifying new business opportunities and managing existing accounts. * Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with clients and suppliers to ensure profitable and sustainable business relationships. * Communication: Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and smooth operations.* Travel: Travel within the UK and abroad to meet with clients, suppliers, and attend industry events. Qualifications: Experience: * * Previous experience in account management, particularly within the supermarket sector. * Experience in the fresh food industry is highly desirable. Skills: * * * Results-oriented with a strong track record of achieving sales targets. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong relationship-building and rapport establishment abilities. * Ability to analyse and interpret market data. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. * Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus. * Familiarity with Supply Chain Management software for tracking inventory, logistics, orders, costings, and services. * Strong negotiation skills. * Attributes: * Ability to travel both within the UK and internationally as required. * Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
