IBEW Local 353 The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 353 is seeking a qualified Accounting Bookkeeper to join our team. Location: IBEW Local 353 Union Hall, 1377 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario,M3A 3P8 Reports to: Office Manager & Controller Permanent, Full-time, 35 hours / week Number of Positions - 1 Location: IBEW Local 353 Union Hall, 1377 Lawrence Ave. E., Toronto ,ON Wage : 1192.45 / Week Benefits: 4% RRSP and health and welfare benefits Position Responsibilities: · Manage accounts payable for the Education and SER in AccPac after approval by Management. Print cheques for payments. Match cheques to invoices. Send cheques to be signed. File and mail all cheques. · Manage accounts receivable invoices and billings, tracking and collecting payments, maintaining customer relationships, resolve payment disputes · Manage and track budgets for special events. · Prepare weekly payroll for Instructors, Jury Duty, Bereavement, Subpoena wage loss and hourly employee using Easypay. Annually aid the Controller balancing the T4 & T4As to the cheques issued. · Perform month end closing including bank reconciliations, visa reconciliation and intercompany reconciliation. · Process new applications for Pre Authorized payments, including entering data into the database and sending confirmation letters to the Members. Monthly run the report and submit it to the bank for processing. · Update the member database, process and mail receipts for online banking paid dues. Reconcile the online reports to the bank statement deposits. · Prepare pension letters, cheques and dues refunds for members receiving pension. Process dues refunds for dropped members, deceased members and transferred members. Get authorization codes from International Office to process the credits in the membership database. · Enter dues paid by contractors on behalf of members; prepare spreadsheets, reconcile and send copies to International Office monthly. · Executive Board - Collect requests and create spreadsheet monthly. Mail and pass out requests. Type all recommendations from the Executive Board meetings in President's minutes for each unit meeting. · Backup for reception, issuing travel cards, new memberships and upgrades, issuing cheques on the other funds. · Annually liaise with the external auditors for the Education and SER fund audit · Maintain a professional image and demeanor with all employees, management, executives and visitors at all times · Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required Skill requirements for the position (including education and work experience): · Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field or completion of two years of a recognized professional accounting program or courses in accounting or bookkeeping combined with several years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk are required. · Knowledge of Sage 300 is a must · Experience in a Not for Profit and a unionized environment will be considered a strong asset · At least 3 years of Strong working knowledge of general accounting or relevant are required · Previous experience in intercompany transactions/reconciliations · Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel · Exposure to Easypay & LPX considered an asset · Work effectively with people at all levels, and is a team player · Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively accomplish required assignments on a timely basis · Efficient and highly organized · Strong Attention to detail Apply : hiring@ibew353.org Please send your resume to above mentioned email.
