Job Description
The Executive Engagement Manager (EEM) is a new role that combines elements of existing positions and areas in which a dedicated staff member is needed. The EEM will support the CEO in his guidance and oversight to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the Canadian Angus Association while also being responsible for internal communication, industry relationships and event planning and execution. They will play an important role in helping build solid relationships with key stakeholders and clients. This role demands a high level of organization, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with little supervision. They will provide support to the CEO in the support of the CAA Board of Directors and their functions.Primary Responsibilities:Provide support to the CAA Board of Directors through tasks such as but not limited to managing logistical arrangements for board meetings, assisting with meeting package development as needed, taking minutes at CAA board meetings, compiling meeting highlights, updating the board policy manual and coordinating electionsAssist the CEO with board reporting requirementsPlan and execute CAA events and activities including but not limited to the annual national convention, annual general meeting—including preparing the AGM agenda and taking minutes, and member information sessionsDetermine and coordinate CAA recognition awardsLiaise with the regional associations, acting as their main contact and providing support for regional programmingTravel liaisonInternal departmental communicationManage CAA general inquiriesScreen sponsorship requests and refer to the CEO as appropriateAct as the CAA media contact, sending press releases and directing inquiriesMaintain relationships with and provide support and leadership for industry leaders including, but not limited to, provincial cattle and beef groups, Canada Beef and the Canadian Cattlemen’s AssociationAbility to understand and interpret bylaws; being well versed in CAA bylaws would be an assetAbility to understand and work within a governance model; fluency in CAA’s style of governance would be an assetQualifications:A related university/college degree with three to five years’ experience is preferred supporting executivesKnowledge of the agriculture industry and experience in the cattle industry are definite assetsDetail oriented, able to multi-task, prioritize and juggle multiple projects, and work independently under pressureMust be proficient in Microsoft office productsExceptional Communication: Clear, concise, and professional in verbal and written interactions.Problem Solver: You’re resourceful and thrive in ambiguity, always finding solutions.Confidentiality: Able to handle sensitive information with discretion.Proactive Attitude: Anticipate needs and take action without waiting for direction.Ability to work independently, and in a team environment Working Conditions: Work is based at Angus Central, the Canadian Angus Association’s national headquarters. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. with a lunch break from 11:30–12:30. Working remotely is not applicable for this position. Ability to travel for meetings approx. 20%Salary: A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, dependent upon the incumbent’s experience and skill set.Physical Demands: To perform this job successfully, the physical demands listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, use a laptop/computer or walk. The employee may occasionally lift items as heavy as 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities may include the employee’s ability to see near and far distances. Canadian Angus Association is based at Angus Central, the Canadian Angus headquarters located north of Calgary in Rocky View County, Alberta. Regular hours of work are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. The Executive Engagement Manager will be situated in this location.
