The team
ASIC's Enforcement and Compliance Group (E&C) is responsible for the conduct of ASIC's initial inquiries, compliance and enforcement work across all sectors excluding markets. E&C comprises Investigation and Enforcement Action, Enforcement Inquiries and Compliance, Enforcement (Evidence) Services and Enforcement Portfolio Coordination.
This role sits within Enforcement Portfolio coordination and has responsibilities for E&C's Financial Advice portfolio.
The role
Senior Specialists in E&C play a crucial role in supporting Portfolio Executives to implement ASIC's enforcement strategy, aligned with sector and business plan priorities. With expertise in the Financial Advice and/or Enforcement sector, you will provide valuable advice, guidance, and assistance with respect to E&C's financial advice portfolio.
As the Senior Specialist, you will also be responsible for:
Delivering portfolio reporting and analysis.
Managing strategic partnerships and liaising with internal stakeholders and external agencies and regulators.
Providing technical and strategic advice on enforcement and regulatory matters.
Leading strategic projects including advising on law reform and policy developments.
Developing enforcement strategies for new and emerging areas.
Mentoring team members and providing technical expertise and leadership
Contributing to business planning and specialist projects.
Preparation of briefs, portfolio papers and a range of other written materials
The Senior Specialist must have sound analytical judgement, flexibility, and drive. You will be able to work collaboratively, effectively managing competing priorities and stakeholder interests.
You will also demonstrate:
Significant regulatory experience in the Financial Advice sector
Expertise in either enforcement, litigation, or policy development
Proficiency in identifying and analysing regulatory issues and developing and implementing effective solutions.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Finance, Economics or Commerce are also essential.
