The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Assistant Manager, Applications to provide a critical role within the Post Sentence Branch of Offender Services.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria operates Victoria's adult corrections system and manages 11 public prisons, one transition centre, and oversees three privately operated prisons. It ensures prisoners are safely and securely contained and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
The Offender Services Division of Corrections Victoria is responsible for providing best practice interventions which aim to reduce the risk of reoffending including quality assurance systems for risk assessment and case management, offending behaviour programs, and transition and reintegration supports. The Offender Services Division has responsibility for the post-sentence supervision scheme and is also responsible for the management of post sentence facilities.
The Post Sentence Branch, within the Offender Services Division of Corrections Victoria, provides central oversight and governance of the post sentence scheme and offenders subject to post sentence orders.
The position of Assistant Manager, Court Applications is a leadership role in a team responsible for ensuring that high quality, timely applications are made for offenders who are identified as suitable for, or are already subject to, a Detention or Supervision Order pursuant to the legislation.
As the Assistant Manager, Application, some of your duties will include:
Coordinating the application process for new applications, reviews and renewals under the SOA.
Representing the Secretary at court for applications, renewals, revocations and/or reviews of orders pursuant to the SOA.
Preparing reports, briefs and correspondence for senior executives and the Minister for Corrections in relation to applications and reviews for Supervision and Detention Orders under the SOA and ensure applications are filed in line with court expectations.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
A proven ability to work within a highly complex service delivery area, preferably in relation to individuals with multiple and complex needs and/or within a legislative framework.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of court processes and ability to competently provide evidence before the courts.
An awareness of current and emerging issues in the management of complex and/or high-profile offenders.
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience working in a Correctional environment and/or within a legislative framework would be highly regarded.
The position requires you to be assessed as suitable to provide evidence at court on behalf of the Secretary within 12 months of commencement in the role. Suitability is determined by either the Assistant Director Post Sentence Branch or Deputy Commissioner Offender Services.
