Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) is establishing a new Culture and Safety Advisory Committee to provide a voice for people from diverse backgrounds with lived experience to inform and shape SIA’s strategies and activities to ensure they are culturally sensitive and appropriate, and the vision that sport is safe and fair for all Australians. We are seeking Expressions of Interest from people who have significant experience working with, and personally identify or connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, people with a disability, LGBTQ+ people, and women and girls, to express your interest in joining the SIA Culture and Safety Advisory Committee. Individuals from diverse backgrounds, experiences and genders are encouraged to apply. SIA is committed to gender equity and striving for a 50/50 gender balance on the committee ensuring diversity in design, implementation and decision-making. Our aim is to achieve a gender equity among members balanced with a focus on merit, expertise and alignment to the committee’s objectives. This is your opportunity to drive meaningful and systemic change, advance diversity, equity and inclusion and make a lasting impact on the integrity and safety of sport for all participants. As a committee member, you will: Provide expert advice: Offer strategic advice and insights for the purpose of enhancing the design and delivery of integrity initiatives (including but not limited to SIA’s Culture and Safety Strategy, resources, education programs, and processes and policy) to ensure that SIA programs are culturally sensitive and effective. Provide constructive feedback: Help SIA refine and enhance internal culture and safety programs, and resources, through valuable feedback and guidance. Recommend effective strategies: Suggest innovative ways to develop, implement and enhance SIA’s current and future culture and safety strategies, raise awareness and distribute resources, and design education content to make it accessible and impactful for members at all levels of sport. Highlight priorities: Share information on current sport priorities, gaps and opportunities in safe sport practices and identify areas and prioritisation of training and educational interventions that could mitigate integrity threats. Guide research: Provide feedback and suggestions to support ongoing research efforts, helping us stay ahead of emerging challenges related to culture and safety within sport. The primary purpose of a committee member is to provide independent, external advice to Sport Integrity Australia’s Culture & Safety Advisor and SIA on cultural challenges and opportunities within the diverse sectors of the Australian community. Your guidance will help to address these challenges and opportunities, assess the appropriateness of SIA’s programs and interventions, and tackle broader strategic and operational issues relevant to SIA operations. Additionally, as a committee member your insights, advice and expertise will be instrumental in supporting the design, implementation and review of SIA’s Culture & Safety Strategy. Your role will be pivotal to ensure sustainable outcomes aiming to address critical issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, racism and discrimination. By joining the Culture and Safety Advisory Committee, provides you a unique platform playing a pivotal role in shaping SIA’s culture and safety practices and strategies. Your contributions will: Influence national sport integrity culture and safety: Be at the forefront of shaping the culture and direction of sport integrity across the nation, ensuring safer and fairer outcomes. Drive excellence in education: Play a key role in developing integrity education programs that will be used by sporting participants across the country. Protect the future of sport: Gain valuable personal and professional development through your involvement in guiding high-level decision making and strategic planning. Expand your network: Engage with a diverse group of professionals and leaders, building connections that can benefit your career and the broader sporting community. Make a real impact: Your insights and contributions will have a lasting effect on the integrity and safety of sports, creating a positive legacy for future generations.
