Learn more about our extraordinary teams building inspiring projects in our Impact Report.  Job Summary: In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil/structural aspects are met.  Major Responsibilities: Plans and conducts independent Civil work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil engineering techniques, procedures and criteria Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs) Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned Designs structures using advanced knowledge of civil engineering in the areas of hydrology, hydraulics, road design and pavement design, geotechnical and earthworks. Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements Originates and checks complex Civil engineering deliverables Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data Coordinates with client representatives Conducts or leads special studies of new Civil engineering methods, materials and techniques Mentors Civil engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development Leads constructability reviews Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10+ years of relevant experience or 15+ years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated experience as a Civil Engineer, preferably within mining and metals industry Considered highly skilled and proficient in Civil Engineering discipline Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways Able to be registered as an RPEQ, or already registered as RPEQ is preferrable.
