The Mainstream Primary school is in the heart of Croydon. The Role: Teaching Assistant - ADHD Support - Croydon Primary As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support a Year 5 student with ADHD (non-aggressive). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing tailored one-to-one and small group support, ensuring the student can access the curriculum effectively and remain engaged in classroom activities. You will also help to foster a positive learning environment and promote emotional well-being. Key Responsibilities: Teaching Assistant - ADHD Support - Croydon Primary Support a Year 5 child with ADHD in accessing their learning, including providing individualised strategies to help with concentration, organization, and social interaction. Assist with managing the student's behaviour, ensuring they are able to focus and participate fully in lessons. Work closely with the class teacher to monitor progress and adapt support as required. Provide emotional support and encouragement, helping the student to build confidence and self-esteem. Assist with classroom activities and group work, ensuring the student is fully included. Help with the student's organization of tasks, time management, and independent learning where possible. Liaise with parents, teachers, and external agencies to provide the best support for the student. Essential Skills& Qualifications: Teaching Assistant - ADHD Support - Croydon Primary Previous experience working with children with ADHD or additional learning needs is desirable but not essential. A genuine interest in supporting children with special educational needs, particularly ADHD. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children. Strong communication and teamwork skills. An understanding of how to implement individualized support strategies and adapt teaching approaches. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow within the role. Desirable: Previous experience supporting Children with ADHD Experience in a school setting, particularly working with primary-aged children.
