I am exclusively partnered with a well-established managed service provider searching for a personable and driven Software Director to lead and grow their current software team of 11.   As Software Director, you will beresponsible for their software and product engineering, ensuring this meets the evolving needs of their clients and delivers exceptional value. You’ll be a senior-level partner and strategic advisor to the technology leadership team and play a key role in driving and championing change at the organisation.   This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of technology within the company and to grow into a top executive position, contributing significantly to the strategic direction and innovation in technology.   Responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to: Foster a positive, productive work environment to encourage creativity, collaboration, and innovation within the software development team. Advocate for and implement new techniques to overhaul existing monolithic systems, ensuring alignment with business needs and technology strategy. Collaborate with senior management on a technology roadmap, align SCRUM tasks with strategic goals, and empower software teams. Oversee best practices in coding, testing, and maintenance for high-quality software, and improve the software release pipeline. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and stay informed on industry trends. Organise team-building activities, hackathons, and tech talks to share knowledge and strengthen team bonds. Facilitate technical training and workshops to keep team members updated on the latest technologies and practices. Conduct one-on-one meetings to provide guidance, assess progress, and set performance goals. Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools to enhance productivity and solve complex problems and allocate resources effectively. Collaborate with external partners and vendors, participate in industry conferences, handle financial and budget-related tasks, and adhere to company policies including information security, health, safety, and environmental responsibilities. The ideal candidate will: Possess a robust background in software development, exemplary leadership abilities, and a strategic perspective. Have extensive experience in leading teams through significant architectural transformations, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Be skilled at translating business requirements into effective technical solutions. Be passionate about enhancing developers' work lives through advocacy, mentorship, and the improvement of tools and practices. Demonstrate ability to inspire, motivate, and lead developers towards excellence in a supportive and empowering environment. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adept at fostering positive relationships and a collaborative team culture. Be proficient in creating an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes equal opportunities for learning and growth. Be data-driven, self-motivated, and adept at problem-solving. Have an in-depth knowledge of client/server engineering principles. Have proven success in delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
