Job Description

The Assembly Hall Theatre is excited to recruit a Senior Lighting Technician to join our dynamic technical team. The Assembly Hall Theatre is a thriving receiving house with over 300 productions a year in a wide variety of genres.   Ideally you will have experience working in a similar environment or relevant theatrical qualifications and study along with an awareness of the challenges this can present. You will have a strong lighting background with an advanced skillset of ETC EOS programming and operation, knowledge of lighting design and working with lighting designers, a good background in the use and maintenance of conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures. You will utilize skills in lighting network, DMX protocols to network multiple consoles to the theatre’s lighting systems. The Senior Lighting Technician will also work closely with external suppliers and partners in order to maintain the theatre’s lighting equipment and order parts and consumables as required. Day to day duties would include the loading in and out of touring companies productions, programming and operating the lighting desk for shows, maintaining the theatres large stock of lighting equipment and assisting in other areas of the theatre and stage. You will mentor and teach the theatre’s technicians skills of the lighting department, and take the lead on lighting for external shows, internal shows and hires, working closely with touring lighting departments and designers, ranging from the theatre’s large repertoire from pantomime to tribute acts, touring theatre to comedians.You will be able to work calmly and effectively with a wide range of people and be self-motivated, able to work in among a tight-knit team and under minimal supervision with a ‘can do attitude’. The ability to remain calm and focussed whilst under pressure, at times working to a tight schedule, is essential. You will be required to work evenings and weekends.
