Job Title: Resource Base Teacher (Specialist Provision for SEMH&ADHD) Location: Catford Salary: MPS Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: April or September Are you passionate about personalized learning and supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges? We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Resource Base Teacher to join a growing team. This role involves working with pupils who face barriers to learning, primarily influenced by insecure attachment and/or ADHD. You will be instrumental in supporting the re-integration of these pupils into mainstream education while promoting positive behavioural strategies and long-term emotional well-being. Main Purpose: The primary focus of this role is to support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning, such as dysregulated behaviour. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver individualized learning programs that focus on the holistic development of pupils’ social, emotional, and mental health. This includes supporting the development of self-regulation skills and positive long-term outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Support for Pupils: Assess and identify pupil needs and plan and deliver cross-curricular, multi-sensory learning activities. Deliverand evaluate interventions that support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning. Lead the reintegration of pupils with SEMH needs into mainstream classes. Supervise and support pupils who are not on a typical mainstream timetable. Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, acting as a mentor and role model. Working with Staff: Provide training and coaching for staff to manage pupil behaviour effectively. Support staff with the implementation of behaviour interventions and adjustments in their classrooms. Collaborate with teaching assistants, psychotherapists, and educational psychologists to monitor pupil progress. Monitoring, Reporting, and Administration: Develop, deliver, and assess intervention plans. Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, including assessments, individual education plans (IEPs), and reports. Contribute to the development of personalized timetables and curriculum plans. Working with Parents/Carers: Build strong relationships with parents/carers and involve them in their children’s learning process. Provide guidance and support to families to promote positive behavior at home. Carry out home visits and establish positive communication channels with families. Working with External Agencies: Participate in meetings with outside agencies such as CAMHS, social services, and educational psychologists. Support the referral process and liaise with agencies to ensure pupils receive the necessary support. Safeguarding: Adhere to statutory safeguarding guidelines and policies to protect the welfare of pupils. Promote a culture of safeguarding across the school. Person Specification: We are looking for a candidate who has: Qualifications&Experience: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Experience working with pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Knowledge of trauma-informed strategies, emotion coaching, TEACCH approach, PACE, and Zones of Regulation. Experience working with external agencies and contributing to multi-disciplinary meetings. Experience of assessing pupil needs using a range of tools (e.g., Boxall Profile). Experience in managing behaviour and planning interventions. Skills&Knowledge: Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written). Ability to review policies and procedures, and tailor interventions to meet individual pupil needs. Familiarity with the SEND process, including Assess, Plan, Do, and Review. Proven experience working within a specialist provision for pupils with complex needs. Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies. Ability to use IT systems for reporting and analysis. Personal Qualities: Strong emotional intelligence with a nurturing, empathetic approach. Well-developed sense of empathy and curiosity, with the ability to accept and engage with challenging behaviors. Excellent organizational skills and time management.
