Job Overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established house builder in Shrewsbury. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing costs and contracts, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This role is available on a temporary to permanent basis, offering an excellent opportunity to establish a long-term career with a growing company. Key Responsibilities: * Oversee and manage the cost control and financial aspects of housing projects from inception through to completion. * Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cost reports to ensure profitability and cost efficiency. * Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, quality, and compliance with budget and contract terms. * Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and manage contractual obligations. * Ensure all project costs, including labour, materials, and overheads, are accurately tracked and reported. * Assist with procurement activities, including the preparation and management of tender documents. * Provide advice on legal, regulatory, and contractual issues affecting the project. * Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and project delivery. * Prepare and submit applications for payment and manage cash flow on projects. * Take ownership of project variations, claims, and disputes, ensuring they are handled professionally and in line with company policy. Skills and Experience Required: * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the house building or residential construction sector. * A strong understanding of construction contracts, cost estimation, and project financial management. * Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to manage relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders. * A high level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills. * Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. * A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). * Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Excel, estimating software, or similar). * CSCS card and other relevant qualifications are desirable.
