80105 This Safety, Quality and Compliance Supervisor will report to Safety&Compliance Manager and will work within Network Operations Trees based in our EPN Region (Bury or Norwich) office. You will be permanent employee. You will attract a salary of£51,245 per annum (depending on experience) and a bonus of 3% All applications will be reviewed after the close date. JOB PURPOSE: You will be responsible for day-to-day management of a group of directly employed arborists (typically 8-10 people), facilitating the delivery of arboricultural works. You will be expected to efficiently plan your time between office based tasks and visits to sites, liaising with your teams and our customers. Facilitation of training requirements, vehicle and tool maintenance and working alongside other specialists- Engineers, lines teams, ecologists etc. will challenge your organisational skills. But as part of a supportive progressive team the right candidate will enjoy these challenges. The role is equally a good opportunity for an established supervisor to move into new career area or an experienced arborist to expand their skills into a supervisory role. DIMENSIONS: Staff: Typically 8-10 tree cutters Authorisation to sign and approve timesheets. Financial authority to approve corporate card expense claims following FAL limit. Approval of personal expenses and mileage up to the value of £500.NATURE AND SCOPE: Utility arborist work is acknowledged by UK Power Networks as a high risk activity, often combining some or all of the following; working at height, Work near live electricity (on networks operating up to 132kV) working with hazardous moving machineryUK Power Network's contracts several small and medium sized organisations to deliver tree cutting services across EPN and SPN. There is a requirement to ensure that operatives working for every contractor are audited and that work is carried out safely, in an environmentally compliant manner, and with due consideration to the customers whose land we are working on. It is imperative that a safety auditing regime is in place and carried out by persons with levels of industry-related experience who are conversant with UK Power Networks operating procedures and associated legislation. The role involves the confidence to challenge and act immediately where potential issues are identified. UK Power Networks also directly employs a small team of tree cutting staff who work with the operational areas and it is important that these employees are provided with levels of management and support to ensure that they accomplish their responsibilities in a safe and compliant way. In addition to safety auditing and leading a small team of tree cutters, you will perform qualitative and quantitative auditing of completed work, ensuring UK Power Networks receives value for money from its contract partners. This requires a sound understanding of tree cutting techniques andhow they should be applied, statutory clearance requirements, and the associated British Standards. You will lead their team effectively to achieve a safe and sustainable culture, whilst promoting our values through. Ensure compliance with procedures Demonstrate visible leadership by regular sitevisits Lead by example and demonstrating safe working practices and behaviours Monitor the health and wellbeing of all staff ensuring that control strategies for managing health hazards are complied with. Carry out IPRs following prescribed timescalesYou will work as part of a team contributing to achieving department targets through the monitoring of performance against agreed standards, and the promotion of health, safety and compliance. Although not directly responsible for a budget, the post holder is an enabler for ensuring every operative returns home unharmed at the end of each day, and maximum value is delivered from the circa £25M of annual investment in tree cutting. SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPEREINCE: Arboricultural experience. Supervisory experience of organising, motivating and managing teams Experience in surveying and auditing the work of others Experience in all current and relevant Health and Safety practices within Arboriculture Managing absence, team related HR issues, daily people management With the ability to undertake data input onto hand held devices Must hold a full driving licence IOSH Managing Safely (training will be provided if necessary) Environmental Awareness (training will be provided if necessary) You will participate in UK Power Networks management training programme, appropriate to the role
