Job Description
Embark on a transformative journey as an Equities Risk - Developer at Barclays. Our vision is clear: to redefine the future of banking and help craft innovative solutions. We are seeking a talented and motivated hands-on Developer to work in a dynamic front-office technology team, developing various facets of risk management for the equity derivatives trading desk in a highly distributed, low-latency platform. This is your chance to work on a highly visible, real-time front-office Flow Derivatives platform for a large revenue-generating trading desk. You’ll have face time with traders, quants, and other business users, both to understand new feature requests and to provide support.
To be successful in this role, you should:
Have worked in designing core Java-based applications and distributed architectures; you should have a solid understandingof design patterns, multi-threading, collections, concurrency&optimization, with strong experience in Linux/Unix and distributed file systems
Experience with Python and Shell scripting, and various Java libraries like Spring, Vertx.
Knowledge of the equity derivatives domain, along with pricing and risk mechanisms.
Other highly valued skills include:
Demonstrated ability to independently investigate and resolve complex technical problems, Self-directed approach to troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills, with experience in business-facing front-office applications, as well as working with a global team of traders, quants, operations, and other business functions.
Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, or any container technology would be an added advantage.

The role is based out of our office in London.
Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, andother engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
Implementationof effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
