An opportunity has arisen for a sensory social worker to work within the citywide sensory and telecare team within the Adult social care sector of Hull City Council.
You will join an integrated multi-disciplinary team to promote independence and control to enable people with sensory loss to live the lives they choose to lead, whatever their age or stage of life. You will provide high quality social work practice, ensuring individuals have a solution focussed plan towards achieving their goals and maintaining their wellbeing. You will work creatively with individuals, local communities and our partners, empowering them to deliver the best possible outcomes for people and to create a positive Adult Social Care culture.
This post will provide and support expert and effective social work practice in complex situations, assessing and managing high levels of risk and providing expert opinion in relation to decisions surrounding complex cases with a special emphasis on communication needs. You will undertake a professional leadership role taking responsibility for the learning and development of others, through leadership and management, supervision, mentoring, assessing and teaching.
You must be a qualified social worker and be registered with Social Work England. The ideal candidate will have or be willing to work towards a level 3 specialist assessor qualifications for assessing deaf/blind people and have experience of assessing complex cases. Experience of joint working within a small specialist team which is part of a bigger multi- disciplinary team with rehabilitation officers, OTs and Telecare technicians in order to provide the best possible outcomes for people with a visual loss to improve independence and wellbeing.
Having some skills or awareness of BSL would be advantageous and any successful candidate must be willing to work towards BSL level 1& 2 qualifications. You will have a good understanding Social Care legislative framework including the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act.
