Closing date:10 February 2025 We are seeking flexible and enthusiastic applicants for the post of Accommodation Recruitment Officer.  This post is central to ensuring Hull City Council can provide suitable homes for our unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) who are Looked After by the local authority. Unaccompanied children seeking asylum are offered care and support by their local authority, and we need more foster carers and supported lodgings providers to undertake this rewarding role. As accommodation recruitment officer you will be part of a committed and enthusiastic team, involved in increasing our community of carers and providers to care for children from ethnic minority backgrounds.  You will be able develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of community groups to encourage them to consider whether they could care for our young people. You will work proactively with our marketing officer to publicise the need for carers for unaccompanied asylum seeking children, making links with ethnic minority community and faith groups and supporting them to take the first step to becoming foster carers or supported lodgings providers. You will work alongside supported lodgings workers and fostering social workers to raise the profile of foster care and supported lodgings and help to break down the barriers to becoming a carer faced by our ethnic minority communities. We aim to increase our capacity to care for this cohort of young people and you will be central to this. As well as engaging and building relationships with minority communities and faith groups to generate interest in becoming carers, the role will involve supporting  prospective carers during the fostering/supported lodgings recruitment and assessment process and assessment, as well as providing support our carers once we have matched them with a young person.  You will be able to build specific links with groups, networks, charities and other organisations that represent, work for or support unaccompanied asylum seeking children, to maximise the support on offer for this group of young people.
