Job Title: Electrical Estimator
Job Overview:
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for electrical installation projects. This role involves evaluating project plans and specifications, estimating material and labour costs, and determining the overall budget and timeline for electrical work. The Electrical Estimator works closely with the Directors and project management teams to ensure that estimates are aligned with client expectations and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Estimate Preparation: Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, sub-contract specialist packages
* Cost Estimation: Calculate labour, material, and overhead costs, ensuring accuracy in pricing and estimating quantities of materials needed for projects.
* Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive bids and proposals, outlining project costs, timelines, and scope of work for clients.
* Collaboration: Work with project managers, designers, and contractors to understand project requirements and scope, providing input on the most efficient and cost-effective solutions.
* Vendor Coordination: Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and services, ensuring competitive pricing and quality.
* Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks or challenges that may impact project cost or timeline and provide recommendations to mitigate these risks.
* Project Evaluation: Conduct site visits to assess existing electrical systems or conditions, helping to provide more accurate estimates and clarify any issues.
* Contract Negotiation: Participate in meetings with clients, suppliers, and contractors to negotiate terms and finalise project agreements.
* Documentation: Maintain detailed records of estimates, proposals, and bids for future reference and auditing purposes.
Qualifications:
* Education: A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is typically required.
* Experience: At least 5-8 years of experience as an estimator in the electrical field or a similar role within the construction or electrical industry.
* Skills:
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
