The key role of the Missioner is to lead and encourage both local and diocesan strategy on Christian Life and mission (intentional discipleship/ active apostleship) throughout the Diocese. You will work closely alongside the Bishop and Diocesan Officers in developing and setting out a theology, strategy and models of good practice at all levels within the Diocese. As a Canon of the Cathedral, you will be responsible to the Provost in furthering missional and pastoral work in the Charge, assisting at services as a part of the team and covering services when required. You will be an ex-officio member of the Diocesan Standing Committee. Promote and lead on encouraging intentional discipleship and active apostleship Develop online and in-person mission/ training resources after audit of needs Develop links with islands and charges with lay leaders Run an annual Mission Forum to energise and encourage Charges. 2 x Sundays a month be active in visits to Charges/ available to cover clergy holidays and Charges without clergy. To be a full member of the House of Clergy in a Diocesan events 1 x Sunday a month in the Cathedral as Chapter Canon 1 day per week on Cathedral work to assist the Provost in pastoral care, service cover when needed, and outreach. Potential Safeguarding role for Cathedral The role offers the usual benefits of the SEC with standard stipend, pension and holiday entitlement: being 25 days plus 10 being equivalent to annual bank holidays – this includes a maximum of 5 Sundays (not including major festivals) plus two days off in every seven. A house is included with Council Tax paid. Expenses can be claimed as agreed. This is a 5-year post.
