We are a shop selling, repairing and restoring orchestral string instruments in Birmingham's‘Bohemian' quarter. We have a database of over 10,000 customers, of which approximately a quarter live within three miles. We have delighted in serving our local, national and international musicians ranging from young beginners to internationally renowned professionals, for more than 15 years from our current site. We have a well-visited website, but we are not an ‘online' seller. Most transactions happen in-store, or occasionally by phone or post. Our reviews tell us that many people love coming to visit us. The business is thriving and going from strength to strength. So, we need to expand our small team by recruiting a Shop Manager to ensure that we continue to give the same good personal service we are renowned for.  They will also take responsibility for the running of the business when the Directors are absent. So, are you the person who can bring excellent interpersonal skills and are able to instil enthusiasm into the newest musician as well as having agood understanding the needs of professional musicians?   You will need to bring a sense of calm to a busy environment, and energy to the business as a whole. You will have or be able to develop a strong sense of the business environment both legally and financially and be able to manage and support other members of staff. You also need to be an excellent co-ordinator, prioritising competing demands from sales, enquiries, assisting with valuations, re-ordering to maintain stock, and maintain stock-related records on an online accountancy package. A strong experience with social media isa plus. You will need to be a player of at least one orchestral string instrument, including or be able to learn the violin, as well as being able to tune string instruments, easily.  Training will also be available to ensure you can undertake simple maintenance tasks such as restringing, peg easing, soundpost adjustment etc.
