Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant Location: Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in Shoreham. As an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant , you will work closely with a student on the autism spectrum, providing personalised support to help them engage with the curriculum and thrive in an inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a student with autism, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and developing independence. Work alongside the class teacher to create and implement individualised learning plans tailored to the student's needs. Offer emotional and behavioral support, helping the student to build confidence, manage challenges, and interact positively with peers. Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment, promoting understanding and acceptance of neurodiversity. Monitor and report on the student's progress, providing feedback to the SENCo and other staff members to ensure the best possible outcomes. Support the student in developing social, communication, and life skills. About You: Experience in supporting students with autism, either in a 1:1 or classroom setting, is highly desirable. A patient, understanding, and adaptable approach to supporting children with autism. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents. A commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning experience for children with autism. A team player who is enthusiastic about contributing to the wider school community.
