Mechanical Fitter Location: Norwich, NR6 Contract Duration: 12-week temporary to permanent with a 9 week probation review to confirm permanent position Salary£31,050 per annum (£15.31/hour) - £34,184 per annum (£16.86/hour) Overtime available on a voluntary basis: 1.5x Monday – Saturday, 2x Sunday Call-out Rota&Bonus: Voluntary basis, typically 1 in 5 rotation£25/day (Monday – Friday), £50/day (weekends) Minimum 4 hours paid at 1.5x&2x on Sunday for attended calls Additional£40 payout if called to assist a colleague Working Hours Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM 39 hours per week (30-minute lunch break) Overview Our client are a leading specialist within Industrial Servicing, making remarkable a reality every single day. Main Duties&Responsibilities: Repair all types of industrial equipment ranging from AC and DC motors, motorised gearboxes, gearboxes, pumps, fan units, generators, and other rotating equipment. Handle components of varying sizes– from small fractional horse-powered fan units to large 5-ton DC mill motors or vertical pumps. Fault-finding and identifying/rectifying defects in worn or damaged components. Basic electrical testing of AC&DC components (training and verification provided). Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to diagnose and repair issues. Be flexible to work in a 24/7 service-oriented environment. Participate in the call-out rota as required. Conduct site work (CCNSG passport advantageous) - Company vehicle provided for travel. Essential Skills, Experience&Qualifications: Valid, clean UK driving licence NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC, City&Guilds, or equivalent (time-served experience highly preferable). Practical mechanical skills alongside strong theoretical engineering knowledge. Physically capable of meeting the demands of the role. Understanding of repairing rotating equipment, with or without direct experience. Manual machining/lathing experience (advantageous). Ability to read and interpret engineering technical drawings.
