Commercial Business Partner
Liverpool / Darlington - hybrid role
Full Time, Permanent
We are currently seeking a Commercial Business Partner to lead on strategic commercial activity in their business partnering area.
As a key member of the Finance and Corporate commercial team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure customer and stakeholder needs are met and lead team members in delivering commercial activity in line with public accountability expectations.
You will support the Senior Commercial Business Partner in the design and development of the DBS Commercial Strategy, in support of the delivery of the DBS 2028 Strategy and support the Senior Commercial Business Partner and your direct reports in implementing a Strategic Commercial Business Partnering Model. Your key responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities:
As a Commercial Business Partner, you will develop relationships to support the organisation in reducing unnecessary spend and deliver value for money through commercial activities.
You will liaise at appropriate levels across the organisation to offer early-stage specific advice to assist in managing commercial activity. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Proactively building effective and influential relationships with senior stakeholders providing advice on commercial and procurement matters, policy, planning and strategy
* Developing and implementing procurement strategies, defining and negotiating contract terms, and engaging the market for future services
* Identifying and mitigating contractual risk to reduce the risk of service failure and reputational damage
* Planning and delivering the mobilisation of new contracts
* Working alongside the leaders of different parts of the organisation to ensure delivery of effective contract management
Ensuring that your team:
* Works with internal stakeholders to effectively develop and maintain a Commercial pipeline
* Identifies, understands, records and manages savings and contract risks at all stages of the procurement cycle
* Planning, leading and overseeing the procurement of services
* Ensuring compliance to and awareness of developments in procurement law, government accounting and best commercial and procurement practice
* Taking ownership of silver and gold level procurements ensuring compliance and driving value for money
About you:
* Ability to extract complex MI and other information from a variety of sources and present in a clear and consistent manner
* Skilled at balancing conflicting demands of multiple projects and tasks whilst delivering strategic objectives
* Handled complex commercial projects involving novel and non-standard commercial&contractual mechanisms
* Experience in leading on procurements and contracts of high value and complexity with the potential for reputational risk
* Well-versed in developing and managing effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
* Experience in developing and leading teams to improve (not necessarily as a direct line manager)
Qualifications/Technical Ability
* CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement&Supply) membership, qualified to Level 6 Diploma
* You will have completed (or be willing to complete)“foundation” level in the Contract Management Capability Programme and will be working through Transforming Public Procurement training to ensure we are compliant with The Procurement Act 2023.
* An understanding of the Gov. uk Sourcing Playbook, the Contract Management Professional Standardsand associated policies and the obligation on Commercial
Successful candidates must meet BPSS security requirements before they can be appointed.
