Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Mechanic Shop Labourer is responsible to provide workshop support and maintenance to the heavy duty mechanic shop and other areas as required. Duties include general labour/cleaning support within the R&M workshop to ensure safe work areas are maintained.?POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:General maintenance and cleanliness of all shop and yard areas, including wiping down work areas, sweeping and mopping as required and changing garbagesEnsuring all garbage and hazardous materials/rags are in the correct binsTo provide general labour support tasks within the workshop (This may include lifting, handling large and/or awkward loads)To provide general maintenance of cleaning tools and equipmentTo be the ?parts runner? when needed and to provide this service as efficiently as possibleHandle materials within the shop and outdoors as requiredOperate basic hand tools and powered hand toolsOperate equipment as described in company proceduresTo comply with the requirements of Health and Safety RegulationsTo monitor and report any equipment and tools needing repairPerform general tasks as assigned by their SupervisorPerform all work safely and follow established work proceduresOther duties as required?REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:Previous experience in a shop environment will be considered an assetWilling and able to work shift work and/or overtime (includes early mornings, extended hours and potentially weekends during in-season)Must be punctual, with limited absences, and possess a strong work ethicMust be able to perform physically demanding workRequires basic reading and writing skillsAble to communicate in an effective and professional mannerRequires certified steel toed bootsMust possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License with clean driving recordWORKING CONDITIONS:Primary work area is the heavy duty mechanic shop with additional work areas defined as requiredThis role requires the employee to spend time outdoors, and therefore various weather conditionsSome shop facilities at the Rack are not heated and the employee should be prepared for cold temperatures in the winter months.?Interested in joining our Team?
