The Hatch Winery is looking for a Full-Time Tasting Room Supervisor (NOC 62010)! This is a full-time, permanent position with 40 hours per week. Job Description: Tasting Room Supervisor - you will act as an ambassador for JPC and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the property. Working within our casual tasting room environment, you will deliver the ultimate level of customer service, educate guests on our wines, and ensure the experience for all visitors exceeds expectations. In addition, we have put together the areas you will specifically be responsible for in addition to regular tasting room duties assigned by the Tasting Room Manager: 1. Personnel a. Comfortable leading and organizing a team i. Instructing and demonstrating to staff on customer interactions b. Planning for, recruiting, managing seasonal staff labour i. Beginning in the new year, working on recruitment plans, job postings, and current season labor budgets ii. Organizing and conducting interviews iii. Ensure new hires receive onboarding package (paperwork), organize for new iv. staff to go into the office for payworks set up v. Plan for new hire tours of the properties c. Training staff i. Training staff; Not limited to: opening and closing procedures, POS troubleshooting, company history, your location history, the brand, the products, company policies ii. Wine and vineyard knowledge iii. Wine club offerings iv. Training senior staff on how to monitor online sales and "hello" emails v. Setting expectations (customer service, knowledge, tasks for idle moments) vi. Tasting through wines with staff to teach them standard tasting methods and to familiarize them with the product. 2. Knowledge a. Ensure you are the expert on your products and that staff know where to find information to educate themselves b. Ensure you are an expert for you location on wineclub i. What are the offerings (different clubs, costs, frequency) ii. How to sign up new members iii. What members receive (perks, discounts, etc.) c. Propose to management any ideas regarding Pick Up Parties. We should host one (mini-mum) pick up party per location per year 3. Tasting room and building a. Ensure daily opening and closing procedures are being performed to an appropriate level of cleanliness 4. Procedures a. Build and maintain staff training materials i. Including who staff should call for troubleshooting or issues if manager(s) are away b. Review and update opening and closing procedures as necessary c. Task lists for any slower days d. Online sales and shipments 5. Inventory a. Work with accounting to understand the flow of inventory and to purpose of the systems in place b. Learn the systems and ensure you use them correctly c. Never let product leave or enter the facility without paperwork/transfer/system being up-dated d. Manage weekly wine orders from MBW (make sure you understand inventory volumes and cut off times) e. Coordinate, execute, review, and adjust inventory for spot counts (weekly) f. Organize and ensure staffing for month end inventory counts i. Know how to pull count information ii. Know how to review variances and hunt for issues iii. Know how to save you count information iv. Update Shopify once the count is complete and reviewed. MUST update Shopify the day of the count g. Samples i. writing off and organize daily (review for days off) ii. ensure samples are tagged to a customer and refunded iii. monitor that appropriate bottles are being poured, customers are not being over-poured iv. Ensure all staff are trained on how to do samples v. Train & motivate team to keep sample numbers low vi. Properly store empties 6. Sales a. Responsible for ideas and creative ways to push sales (examples: bundle offerings, specials) b. Events - ideas and proposing budgets to upper management for approval. Maintain budget once approved i. Pick up parties ii. Winter events iii. Private events c. Ensure staff are aware of any bundles/offerings to push on customers 7. Wine club a. Know ALL about the JPC club offers. b. Train and train and train your staff on wineclub c. Ask/comment to every customer about our wine club d. Make sure staff are aware of any incentives happening with the club e. Always be pumped about wine club f. Work with the wine club team to ensure you know what the upcoming club(s) for your lo-cation offer (wines, merch, expected ship dates) g. Ability to perform basic admin functions in Wine Club software i. Eg. Updating credit card info h. Be familiar with Wine Club regulars 8. Customers a. Greet visitors upon arrival b. conduct engaging wine tastings c. Tour companies i. Monitor the online booking system for booked tours ii. Know the tour operator program ($10 / person booked on the website) iii. If anyone shows up NOT booked into our online system, you MUST charge them onsite d. Online communication i. Monitor and respond in a timely manner (24 hours) to all customer inquires (via the "hello" email) ii. Handle all customer issues in a courteous and concerned manner, ultimately resolv-ing all problems e. Make sure all customers have a great and memorable tasting experience f.
