Job Responsibilities · Perform thorough inspections of vehicles to assess their performance and identify faults or malfunctions. · Use diagnostic tools and other testing equipment to accurately diagnose issues and determine repairs. · Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools. · Conduct tests on repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications. · Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and servicing heavy trucks. · Maintain detailed records of all services performed and repairs completed. · Communicate effectively with clients about their vehicle needs and provide excellent customer service. · Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan. · Manage an inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring necessary components are available when needed. · Respond to emergency repair requests to minimize vehicle downtime and ensure vehicles are back in service quickly. · Work collaboratively with other mechanics and team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively. · Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks meet quality standards and manufacturer specifications. · Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical parts to ensure proper functioning. · Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or ensure they work properly. · Replace worn or broken parts such as brake pads, wheel bearings, and sensors. · Ensure shop equipment is operating by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance. · Fabricate and modify parts as required, using appropriate tools and machinery. · Provide roadside assistance and repairs as necessary, ensuring quick resolution. · Document vehicle maintenance and repair activities accurately to support warranty claims and customer inquiries. Education, Experience and Skills required · Completion of secondary school. · Completion of apprenticeship program or minimum 2-3 years of experience. · Strong knowledge of engine systems and components. · Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment. · Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. · Strong communication and customer service skills. · Ability to direct subordinates and work with minimal supervision.
