· Assist diesel mechanics in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining engines, mechanical systems, and diesel-powered equipment. · Move tools, equipment, and materials to and from work areas. · Support the installation, repair, and maintenance of trucks and related systems. · Help with small engine repairs and basic maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, fluid level checks, and filter replacements. · Assist in disassembling and reassembling engine components and mechanical parts. · Replace worn or damaged parts, like belts, hoses, and batteries, under supervision. · Clean and organize work areas, tools, machines, and equipment after use, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed. · Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and tasks completed. · Follow safety protocols and ensure proper handling of tools and equipment. · Perform routine checks and address minor issues to keep the fleet operational. · Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations regarding vehicle maintenance. · Signal safety procedures to other workers and the public as needed. · Assist tradespersons, apprentices, and other workers as directed. · Perform general labor or other tasks as required.
