POSITION OVERVIEWThe Producer Representative will build relationships with egg and pullet farmers, support barn management and egg quality improvement efforts, and engage with professional organizations within the poultry industry. Additionally, they will assist with special projects and events, helping to drive the success of our farm customers and strengthen industry partnerships. SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.Strong English (written and verbal) and mathematical skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs.Time management and multi-tasking skills and the ability to organize work and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.Professional manner. A responsive and positive work attitude is essential.Must be diplomatic (dealing with a variety of personalities).Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information.Works well under pressure.Ability to communicate at a high level and work well with others as part of a team, demonstrating politeness, respect, and courtesy in communication and daily interactions.Ability to adapt to change and demonstrate a willingness to learn.Demonstrated judgement and critical thinking skills.Ability to work in excess of stated hours to complete job responsibilities.Post secondary education. Must be enrolled in an Agriculture-related, Co-op program or have equivalent work experience. Previous knowledge and experience in shell egg industry or other poultry would be an asset.Valid provincial driver’s license and the ability to travel occasionally. RESPONSIBILITIESThe Producer Representative will spend time in the following areas, and will obtain a working knowledge of each section.Producer RepresentativeObtain useful knowledge of the necessary skills to become an effective Producer Representative.Provide excellent customer service support for all customer requests involving trucking, egg orders, grading results, etc.Become familiar with the owners and locations of egg farm customers.Act as the primary contact for provincial egg and pullet farmers.Spend time in barns supporting egg farmers with problem solving (egg quality, system checks, and barn management improvements).Understand the audit requirements of an egg and pullet farm.Obtain knowledge of various hen and pullet housing and egg production systems.Perform regular equipment checks and assess areas of egg handling and gathering that can contribute to under-grades.Be familiar with standard egg and pullet barn management requirements and strategies (lighting, feed, water, ventilation, etc.).Learn the role and responsibilities of Egg Farmers of Canada.Learn the role and responsibilities of the provincial egg board.Learn the provincial egg farmers polices, programs and procedures.Become familiar with the role of affiliated professional organizations and partners, such as Canadian Center for Food Integrity, Poultry Industry Council and Farm & Food Care.Become familiar with the resources of Agriculture Canada, provincial Ministry of Agricultural & Rural Affairs, CFIA, and Health Canada.Attend poultry and agriculture industry meetings and conferences.Network with poultry feed companies, hatcheries, and equipment suppliers.Assist with planning and executing farm customer appreciation events.Develop and maintain successful working relationships with colleagues throughout the organization.Live by the organization’s mission, vision and values.Other duties as assigned.Grading Station(s)Communicate all necessary farm information/changes or farm quality concerns.Organize and complete egg sampling/candling for customer egg quality investigations.Knowledge of HACCP and food safety requirements of a grading station will be obtained.Know and understand all the components at a grading station (receiving, grading, packaging, inventory management, and shipping).Implement/facilitate CFIA Egg Grading Acts and Regulations.Implement/facilitate CFIA Organic Egg Product Regulations.Retail Egg SalesGain knowledge of how organizational Sales Representatives service retail customer’s needs.
