Drive regulatory excellence and shape the future of financial reporting and audit with your strategic vision and independence.   Permanent role, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth (other locations to be considered) Salary:  EL1 from $123,444 to $142,790 and EL2 from $147,074 to $195,951 (depending on experience), plus 15.4% superannuation Applications close at 11:59pm AEDT, 31 March 2025   The team  The Sustainability Financial Reporting and Audit (SFA) sector is primarily responsible for ASIC's role in relation to the regulation and supervision of companies and auditors to ensure sector adherence to the relevant laws for this sector, administered by ASIC and the promotion of market integrity. The Financial Reporting and Audit (FR&A) team sits within SFA and is responsible for promoting market trust and confidence in the quality of financial reports and their audits by ensuring that financial reports and external audits comply with the law. This is achieved through financial reporting surveillances and audit surveillances to change behaviour that can give rise to poor financial reporting and auditing practices, The team also contributes to policy development, education, sector liaison and other activities to change behaviour that can enhance financial reporting and auditing practices.   Lead and conduct financial reporting surveillances and deal with senior executives. Lead and conduct audit surveillances and quality reviews and deal with audit personnel. Monitor compliance with the financial reporting and audit requirements of the Corporations Act, Accounting and Auditing standards, and professional and Ethical standards. Provide and contribute to expert technical accounting and audit advice and work collaboratively on complex technical issues that arise from surveillances Develop and implement audit and financial reporting policy, regulatory guides, and instruments to inform the market and influence behaviour Build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including industry groups, regulatory bodies, ASIC teams, corporations, superannuation funds, and audit firms to address key areas of interest across the FR&A team. Identify new ways to use data to deliver priorities and communicate insights from data. Identify emerging issues, non-adherence with the law and non-compliance with accounting and auditing standards.   Hold a qualification in accounting and hold professional accounting qualifications (CA ANZ, CPA or IPA). Significant knowledge of financial reporting and auditing provisions in the Corporations Act, and accounting, auditing and ethical standards gained in a medium to large professional accounting firm or regulatory environment. Extensive practical experience in accounting and external audits of companies and/or superannuation funds. Experience in managing complex projects, including financial reporting and audit surveillances. Experience in drafting clear, concise, accurate analysis and advice on complex matters, referencing relevant Acts and standards. Flexibility, drive and ability to work across multiple projects. Experience in monitoring workflows, providing strategic direction and setting personal targets to ensure outcomes are delivered. Highly developed senior stakeholder engagement skills and experience building productive relationships.
