We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Policy Officer to join our Financial Management and Services Group. In this dynamic role, you'll be part of the Financial Management Legislation, Policy and Assurance Branch, working on a variety of research, analysis, and administrative tasks to shape policy advice and recommendations related to the Government Sector Finance Act 2018 (GSF Act) and other statutory instruments. You will be challenged to provide the best outcomes possible in this role while developing and growing your own skills. Your Contribution Matters: • Develop policies, guidance, and processes that align with financial management obligations under the GSF Act and that the sector finds easy to understand. • Engage with stakeholders internally and across the NSW public sector to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, capability building and to ensure effective consultation. • Support the administration of requests for variations and extensions for financial and annual reporting. • Provide advice to agency stakeholders on specific policy areas under the GSF Act and support the team in responding to queries related to the GSF Act and related Treasury policy guidelines. • Collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals to achieve excellence in policy development and financial management. • Contribute to the implementation of the Framework for Financial and Annual Reporting (our recent policy consultation found here Annual Reporting | NSW Treasury) What We Offer: • A forward-thinking team passionate about making a real difference. • Opportunities to shape policies that impact the entire state. • A supportive and collaborative work environment. What You Bring to the Role: • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. • Provide accurate and evidence-based advice and policy analysis. • Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated professional experience in public policy, law, accounting, finance, governance, or a related field. • An understanding of, or willingness to learn and develop expertise in public sector financial reporting, and financial management legislation and policy. • The ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, including chief financial officers, legal officers, agencies, the Audit Office, Treasury relationship leads, and other collaborators.
