Job Advert: Project Safety Assurance Manager Location: Queensland, Australia Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent About the Role: Downer Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Safety Assurance Manager to lead the Safety Assurance Case for the Queensland Train Manufacturing Project (QTMP). This pivotal role ensures that all Safety Assurance activities across Downer and its sub-contractors culminate in a robust safety argument for presentation to both the Operator and the Regulator. The QTMP Project Safety Assurance Manager will oversee a team of system safety engineers and manage the development of the safety assurance case. Success in this role requires a combination of technical expertise and exceptional people management capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Develop and manage the overall Safety Assurance Case for the QTMP. Coordinate and oversee Safety Assurance activities across all project stakeholders, including Downer and its sub-contractors. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of system safety engineers to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of the Safety Assurance Case. Collaborate with the Operator and the Regulator to present a compelling safety argument. Influence key project stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for Safety Assurance outcomes. Drive technical excellence and ensure compliance with all relevant railway safety standards and regulations. Select, develop, and enhance team competencies and capabilities. About You: To be successful in this role, you will have: Experience: Minimum of 10 years in safety engineering design, specifically within railway rolling stock in a major company or consultancy. Technical Expertise: A proven track record in delivering Safety Assurance cases within the railway industry. Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams. Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional influencing and communication skills to work effectively with project stakeholders, regulators, and operators.
