The airport is undergoing a major $5 BN (AUD) redevelopment over the next 7 years which will see the consolidation of the airport terminals into a single terminal campus, construction of a second parallel runway and construction of supporting airport infrastructure including a new hotel and car park. Working in an integrated client management team as the Capital Portfolio Partner, Bechtel will initially be responsible for 1) leading the development of the systems, tools and processes, required by the integrated client team, to successfully plan and manage the redevelopment works, and 2) developing the portfolio cost & schedule baseline. Job Summary: This position is for a Scheduler on the Perth Airport Project. The role is responsible for schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities. Supports project organisational and administrative activities when delegated. Supervises planning/scheduling activities when delegated. Ensures work is completed as scheduled. Identifies schedule-associated cost trends for management attention. Major Responsibilities: Prepares schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations. Applies knowledge of airport and building projects to develop schedules. Integrates interdisciplinary schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties. Works with the contractors and others to coordinate work sequences with the total project plan. Works with Contractors and others to develop quantity release and/or installation curves for assigned contract packages or specialties. Reviews and evaluates quantity records to ensure total quantities are represented for a particular contractor or specialty. Where required, develops required job hour expenditure for assigned packages or specialties. Assists the contractors in determining leveling decisions. Performs quantity, manpower, and cost resource loading for assigned schedules. Performs contractor invoice review for payments based on cost & resource loaded schedules as required. Performs performance monitoring and control functions. Reviews schedule data and identifies and acquires the information needed to complete work logics to interface between assigned contractors or specialties. Develops specific project codes of accounts and work breakdown structures and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions. Determines critical-path activities for assigned contractors or specialties, and identifies significant activities supporting interdisciplinary requirements. Identifies critical path for contractor or specialty work activities. Works with the contractors to develop and monitor their short term (2-4 week) engineering and/or construction schedules. Writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports. Monitors schedule deviation for assigned contractors or specialties including contractor submittals and recommends corrective action/workaround solutions for project considerations.          Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule and prepares and presents the CIAR for the contract package. Meets with and makes presentations to the customer. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field with 13+ years of project controls or cost related work experience. In lieu of degree 19+ years of project controls or cost control experience. Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office. Experience with development and construction of major civil and building projects. Specific airport experience would be an advantage in the Australian market. Required Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication. Prior demonstrated capability to present information and analysis to senior management. Proficiency in using PC operating systems and several basic software applications. Proficiency in using multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used by Bechtel (e.g., Ecosys, Primavera, and Microsoft Project). Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel. Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience. Must have the right to work and remain in Australia without visa sponsorship. Must be willing to move to Perth. Airport experience is preferred.
