Support community safety by proactively motivating and engaging prisoners on parole and supervision orders
Salary range $95,102 - $107,905 per annum plus superannuation
Community Correctional Services (CCS) contributes to the safety of the community by applying practices that reduce reoffending and connecting individuals to programs, services and community. CCS provides management of individuals on court orders, and individuals who have committed serious sex and or serious violent offences who receive post sentence supervision and prisoners on parole.
Parole and Specialist Case Managers (PSCMs) are responsible for delivering high quality case management to a caseload of the highest priority individuals who have committed violent and sex offences under correctional supervision. PSCMs will be responsible for ensuring that the nature of serious offender management aligns with best practice initiatives, including managing clients using strengths-based case management approaches and dynamic risk assessment in line with Corrections Victoria's Offender Management Framework.
The case management role will necessitate that PSCMs demonstrate outstanding service user engagement and management skills, including excellent motivational interaction interviewing techniques and production of relevant plans and reports.
This is a regionally based role and the primary location for this position will be between Cranbourne and Pakenham Justice Service Centres. Operational requirements will mean that you will also need to work from the Dandenong Justice Service Centres from time to time.
In addition, it is expected that the PSCM will possess excellent writing skills demonstrated through the ability to prepare Departmental and Ministerial briefings, general external correspondence and reports to key stakeholders. PSCMs will also be responsible for the meticulous management of CCS service user files.
Knowledge of best practice case management frameworks and theoretical concepts to reduce risk and maximise individual outcomes.
Relevant qualification in social work, psychology or a related human services discipline (preferred) or criminal justice, criminology (desirable).
Ability to communicate with a range of individuals and backgrounds and apply sound professional judgement when required.
