Aboriginal Hostels Limited Aboriginal Hostels Limited’s (AHL) vision is to improve the quality of life and opportunities for First Nations people through their national network of hostels.  AHL hostels are like a home away from home for people needing to travel for access to services or for work and education opportunities. They provide comfortable, culturally safe and affordable accommodation, three meals a day and a welcoming environment for those who stay. Working closely with the local community, you will support people staying in hostels and ensure residents can connect with all services they require during their stay. AHL is proud to be one of the largest employers of First Nations people in the Australian Public Service (APS) with First Nations employees making up approximately 50% of their workforce.   Both roles are based in the Top End and regularly travel (often at short notice) between the five Darwin hostel locations and to hostels in Tennant Creek, Nhulunbuy and Katherine. You will travel to provide relief to AHL’s hostel management team with responsibility for the day to day running of the hostel and working hands on with the team to provide a safe, clean and welcoming environment for residents. Work patterns will generally cover 7am to 7pm shifts for 8 days a fortnight (including one short day) across both weekdays and weekends. Great Hostel Managers come from a wide range of backgrounds.
