Learn more about our extraordinary teams building inspiring projects in our Impact Report.  In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s civil / structural aspects.   You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil/structural aspects are met.  Major Responsibilities: Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, buildings, railroads, etc.  Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates civil/structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides (including international), Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​ and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs)​.  Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including three dimensional, statics, dynamics, and materials engineering . Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements.  Originates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.  Analyses problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions.  Other responsibilities as designated. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills: Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. Design of a wide range of industrial structures including buildings (covered, opened), material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations (including piling), retaining walls, etc. Design in 3D environment using finite element analyses, dynamic analyses, advanced seismic parameters. Design using international codes and standards. Design using 3D analysis software (e.g. STAAD.Pro, Strand 7). Leading a small design team of engineers and designers. Cooperating with other functions (e.g. contracts, procurement) and creating scope of work for service and material requisitions. Completing technical evaluations of submitted proposals. Preparing discipline material take-offs. Interacting with broader project team including other disciplines. Working in dynamic environment to reach challenging milestones.
