Job description About NAPCo The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares and home of Australia's First Carbon Neutral Beef - Five Founders. NAPCo employs approximately 220 staff operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 14 cattle stations, a Depot in Mount Isa, a Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and an office in Brisbane's CBD. Wainui Feedlot & Farm Wainui Feedlot has an 18,000 head capacity, feed rations are mixed on-site using grain processed through a state-of-the-art feed mill. A 4,600 hectare dry-land and irrigated farming enterprise also operates on the property. About The Role Reporting directly to the Feedlot Operations Manager, you will be joining the team as a Feedlot Hand / Stockperson. This role will support the operations in a variety of tasks, primarily around driving feed truck, maintenance, machinery operation, pen riding and general livestock work. This is a all rounder role that supports both the Feedlot Operations team and the livestock teams. Day To Day Duties Include • Driving the feed truck to deliver feed to cattle • Support the livestock crew with cattle inductions, pen riding, drafting etc. • Operating loader to load commodities into the feed truck • Maintenance work consisting of pen cleaning, pen maintenance and general feedlot maintenance • Operating steam flake mill facilities • Maintaining mill areas and commodities shed in a clean and hygienic state • Record mill activities, data entry and daily monitoring of feeding Ideally the successful candidate will have/be: • A current manual driver’s license • Experience in machinery operations (loader, bobcat, prime mover, side tipper, excavator) and associated qualifications will be highly regarded but not essential • Horse riding experience and own horses, desirable but not necessarily • Must be able to work in a team • Feedlot experience not required, training will be provided • Good verbal communication skills and be reliable, honest and a hardworking with a willingness to learn.
