Job purpose Take the lead role developing and maintaining JRHT's approach to Health and Safety and compliance. To be JRHT's Competent Person in respect of Health and Safety matters. To develop and maintain a positive organisational culture in respect of Health and Safety including through effective training, relationships and promotion of the benefits of good practice. Provide the Board and any sub-committees with ongoing assurance (from a variety of sources) that Health and Safety risks are being managed well. Fully qualified membership of IOSH. At least 10 years' experience leading health and safety at strategic level in an organisation of comparable size and scope and similar levels of risk and regulation with a deep and evolving knowledge of developments in health, safety and wellbeing. Highly developed abilities in the management of risk and development of corporate, long-term solutions and governance structures. Considerable experience of reporting to, and working with, directors and senior managers with evidenced ability to persuade key stakeholders of the need for and the merits of improvement and change. A proven track record of delivering significant improvement. Evidence of successfully working with key stakeholders such as the HSE and local authority regulatory officers Experience of identifying and assessing the business need for, and leading on the delivery of, change programmes. Approachable with demonstrable coaching and mentoring skills. Customer-focussed and committed to providing a high-quality service. Proven leadership and team building skills with an inclusive, collaborative style.
