MLK Education Search are pleased to be supporting this specialist school that supports young girls with various needs related to SEMH and SEN, in the search for two Pastoral Assistants to start as soon as possible.
Rated as a ‘Good’ school from Ofsted, they provide education, nurture and support across key stages 3 and 4 and are looking for a passionate Pastoral Assistant to join a vibrant and growing school. The role is varied, and willrequire an adaptable, flexible, and resourceful individual able to cope in a high-pressure environment and deal with constantly changing priorities.
Due to the nature of the setting, the role can be challenging on a day to day basis, dealing with the complex emotional and behavioural needs of the students. It is essential that you have some experience of applying de-escalation strategies and where needed, positive handling/restraint techniques. However, the school will provide ongoing training.
Main Purpose
To work with and supervise individuals and groups of pupils with pastoral, emotionaland behavioural difficulties.
To supervise and develop good social skills with pupils and deal with conflict issues around the school
To support class teachers and teaching assistants with the creation and implementation of plans and strategies for the development and education of pupils.
To work with parents and outside agencies to ensure the health and well-being of pupils is looked
NB: This post may require you to deliver some PSHE sessions
Desirable Experience and Qualifications:
GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths
Relevant training in Improving attendance attendance strategies (desirable) or a commitment to undergo training after probationary period
Strong experience of planning, managing and implementing Attendance strategies within a school setting
Experience identifying interventions to raise attendance of pupils
Experience of teaching small groups/individuals
Experience of working with students with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties
Experience of planning and monitoring progress of individual/small groups
Experience working directly with pupils and parents
Experience working collaboratively with colleagues
Experience analysing data and producing reports and identifying key insights
