Job Title: Automotive CAD Design Engineer - with Catia V6 Location: OX5 1PF, Oxfordshire- hybrid( 3 to 4 days in the office) Department: Vehicle Concepts Job Category/Family: Vehicle Engineering NCP Level: P3 Role Purpose: As a CAD Design Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for creating solutions that meet the product and design requirements for vehicle engineering programmes. This includes exploring and defining suitable architectures and concepts across various subject areas. The role requires effective collaboration with engineering, design, and product teams to generate and present solutions, ensuring that key specifications and data are shared promptly before moving through key project milestones and into detailed engineering. The candidate will leverage their engineering expertise and experience in automotive programmes to tackle challenges, while potentially improving methodologies and ensuring technology concepts are validated and successfully implemented. Key Tasks/Responsibilities: Technical Support: Provide technical assistance between customers and engineering teams to meet key milestones. Reporting and Analysis: Contribute to technical input and reporting in key meetings. Vehicle/Systems Concepts: Lead the creation of robust vehicle and system concepts to inform specification documents. Benchmarking: Conduct technical benchmarking and competitive vehicle analysis, both virtual and physical. CAD Development: Create structured CAD schemes in CATIA V6 to investigate packaging models. Packaging Analysis: Identify packaging issues, constraints, and feasibility across various designs. Bill of Materials (BOM): Develop visual BOMs to assess vehicle concept impacts, highlighting changes or new strategies. Performance Support: Work with global performance teams to support technical attributes. Optimization: Balance vehicle/system concepts with key attributes such as weight, safety, and durability. Cost-Effective Solutions: Support recommendations for cost-effective products, manufacturing, and assembly. Innovation: Identify cost-reduction and optimization opportunities, contribute to continuous innovation. Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate on strategic directions for concepts, sharing knowledge on emerging technologies and manufacturing trends. CAD&PLM Management: Ensure continuity of CAD layouts and PLM data management for future team transitions. Documentation: Record and archive the evolution of the concept, ensuring clear documentation for various departments. Process Improvement: Identify and contribute to the continuous improvement of methods and processes for greater efficiency. Knowledge Sharing: Provide clear, concise studies and information linking product definition, design, and engineering. Required Knowledge&Experience: Eligibility: Must have immediate, ongoing, and valid eligibility to work in the UK and travel to China/EU. Software Skills: Proficiency in CATIA V5 and V6 environments. Communication: Strong verbal, written, and general communication skills. Automotive Sector Experience: Relevant experience within the automotive sector. Vehicle Architecture: High-level knowledge of vehicle architecture and systems.
