Job Description
Our client, a prominent entity in the Highways sector, is currently seeking a Structures Inspector for a permanent position. This role is based in East London and primarily involves inspecting highways structures and buildings under the Condition Inspection III contract with Transport for London.
Role Specification Specific Accountabilities:
To carry out and complete PIs and GIs as defined by the programme set by your line manager for both Highway Structures and Building Assets.
To complete reports in line with client specifications and processes/systems.
To carry out and complete Interim Measures as defined by the Client's delivery schedule and scoping documents.
To complete interim measures reports against Client specifications.
To maintain the high quality of reporting by reviewing and approving reports from the inspections team and others engaged to produce inspection reports.
To review progress against programme and by cost against inspections undertaken, ensuring margin targets are maintained.
To meet year on year efficiency targets whilst maintaining quality standards.
To prepare and review RA/MS documents relating to structures inspections. Ensure working practices adhere to the RA/M.
To promote safe working practices in accordance with the companies Infrastructure Services Health&Safety Policy and to lead by example demonstrating commitment and passion for zero incidents,
To ensure all work is completed in line with corporate and local business objectives.
To support maintenance and scheme teams to achieve specific operational goals.
To attend/assist with network incidents as necessary when on standby.
To be available to work both overnight and on weekends as the programme dictates.
General Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to clients and within Infrastructure Services
Liaise with maintenance/TM staff to make optimum use of planned and emergency traffic management.
Maximise use of inspection resources to reduce cost base; demonstrate savings through use of planned closures.
To maintain and enhance the reputation of the companies Infrastructure Services by encouraging and demonstrating our core value of integrity.
To promote and value our culture of continual improvement while complying with our Business Management System policies and procedures.
Ensure all contractual and performance requirements relevant to role are met as well as provide accurate information to enable reporting against
Increase client confidence through quality of KPI&Reporting compliance. Delivery and reporting against programme is paramount.

Degree in Civil Engineering
Commitment to a high level of health and safety performance Experience:
Demonstrable experience in undertaking General and Principal inspections of highway structures in a complex environment. Exposure to Network Rail and London Underground requirements would be beneficial.
Working understanding of bridge condition indicators
Working knowledge of BridgeStation (desirable)
At least 3-5 years' experience of leading and undertaking structures inspections.
Experience in the design of concrete and/or steel highway structures (desirable)
Background in construction and maintenance of highway structures and related assets (desirable).
Desirable:
Working towards BICS accreditation
Confined space trained.
Ability to work in water and at height.
Valid PTS/BTA.
Full UK driving license.
