Learning Support Assistant (SEN) Location: The Borough of Hillingdon Type: Full-Time (Temporary with Permanent) Working Hours; 08:30 am - 16:15 pm. Join a dedicated and compassionate team at a School in the Borough of Hillingdon, where we are committed to empowering students aged 4-16, predominantly diagnosed with Autism and Learning Difficulties. We are seeking enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join us immediately, with the role continuing until July 2025. For the right candidate, there is potential to secure a permanent position as early as June 2025. We believe in fostering a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment for both students and staff. The Role: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an integral role in helping our students achieve their full potential. Working closely with our experienced teachers and multidisciplinary team, your efforts will ensure each child feels supported, valued, and empowered. Key Responsibilities: One-to-One Support: Provide personalised assistance to individual students, tailoring support to meet their unique needs. Small Group Work: Facilitate engaging educational and developmental activities in small group settings. Curriculum Adaptation: Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt lessons and resources for students with diverse abilities. Foster Inclusion: Help create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social interaction and emotional growth. Behaviour Support: Implement effective strategies to support emotional regulation and address challenging behaviours. Progress Monitoring: Assist in implementing and reviewing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), tracking students’ progress and achievements. Life Skills Development: Support students in developing communication, independence, and essential life skills. Parent and Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with families and colleagues to ensure the best outcomes for each student. What We’re Looking For: We welcome candidates with the following qualities: Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or working with children with Autism and Learning Difficulties. A genuine passion for helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Exceptional empathy, patience, and adaptability to respond to students’ individual needs. Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families. An understanding of behaviour management techniques and safeguarding procedures.
