YOUTH&COMMUNITY WORKER
Hull, Yorkshire and the Humber 1+ months ago
Job Description
Closing date:17 February 2025
This youth worker post, with a focus on return home interviews for missing young people, will be key to ensuring young people who are reported missing to the police by their parents or carers are offered the opportunity to talk through the circumstances of the missing episode (Return Interview).
The successful candidate will be based at Kenworthy House as part of an integrated approach with Integrated Youth Services (IYS), (ReFresh, Targeted Youth Support, Youth Development Service), Vulnerable Exploited Missing and Trafficked (VEMT) Team and Hull Youth Justice Service.
The post holder will work with colleagues within the Vulnerable, Exploited, Missing, Trafficked (VEMT) Team, in the first instance, to undertake independent return home interviews (MEET Up’s) for young people who have returned from being missing, within the agreed timescale of 72 hours.
The aim of the role is to engage young people in the return home interview process in order to share any concerns they may have, the circumstances and whereabouts while missing and establish any additional support that can be put in place by Integrated Youth Services and/or other services. The post holder will encourage access to support and monitor and manage risks by communicating with the lead agency (usually Children’s Social Care). The post holder will also be able to identify opportunities and be proactive in bringing groups of young people together in positive activities where appropriate.
Working with colleagues across services the post holder will enable more young people to connect and access support within their local community and wider young people services, helping to reduce the likelihood of further missing episodes.
