Hull City Council is seeking an innovative, highly skilled individual to join the Education Welfare Service. As a Senior Education Welfare Officer for the North locality, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team working with schools, young people, families and partner agencies to identify barriers to good attendance. With experience of working as an Education Welfare Officer or similar role, the successful candidate will join a dedicated group of officers who are responsible for ensuring the council meets its statutory duties under section 441 or 441a of the Education Act 1996. Experience of managing a team within a fast-paced environment is highly desirable along with the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
As a Senior Education Welfare Officer, you will play a crucial role in discharging the local authorities statutory responsibilities with relation to Children Missing Education, Elective Home Education and reduced timetables. Forging excellent relationships with partner agencies you will be required to support families and professionals through the legal framework and lead on the use of parental responsibility measures, including penalty notices, attendance contracts, School Attendance Orders and where there is no alternative through to prosecution.
