Job Description

Closing date:23 January 2025 Partnership Analyst (Community Safety) for The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), Humberside Salary: Band D£32,950 -£38,000 / Band C£39,120 -£45,280 (dependent on experience) Based at The Lawns, Cottingham, and Hull City Council, Witham Offices (agile working available) This is a shared role supporting both the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) and Safer Hull Community Safety Partnership (CSP). The OPCC has a strong focus on employing people that best fit with the ethos and culture of our team and are looking for someone who will embrace our values of Ambition, Compassion, Enabling, and Integrity and Trust. We are looking for a talented individual to carry out analysis of data and information from a wide range of sources. This new role offers the opportunity to work with partners across Hull and the wider Humber area, drawing on data from multiple disciplines and sectors.  It would ideally suit someone with professional curiosity who likes to“join the dots” and recognises the value of bringing together information from different sources to create better insights. Your time will be split between the OPCC (40%) and Safer Hull CSP (60%): In the OPCC, working alongside other analysts in the OPCC and Humber Violence Prevention Partnership teams, you will work on a range of projects and initiatives supporting community safety in the Humber area and the objectives of the Police and Crime Plan. As part of the Safer Hull CSP team, you will work alongside the project delivery team to support with key tasks such as data collection and analysis, reporting and presentation of data products to stakeholders, geospatial analysis including the building of Power BI dashboards. You will also support the team around problem-solving development and work towards producing the annual Joint Strategic Intelligence Assessment (JSIA) for the Safer Hull Community Safety Partnership. In both aspects of the role, you will have the opportunity to work with analysts and practitioners from across the local public sector and beyond.  You will be encouraged to grow your relationships and knowledge and supported to continue your professional development. Your work will be used by senior local decision-makers to help set strategy, prioritise resources and solve problems affecting our communities.  You will have opportunities to work on both longer-term in-depth products and research, as well as answer queries and support the response to emerging issues and incidents with the best available information. You should have a track record of working with complex data and information sets and producing analytical reports to a broad range of stakeholders, excellent reasoning and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and easy to understand manner. You should have well-developed skills in Power BI and SQL and a willingness to continue to develop them.  You may also have experience of other analytical tools or languages (such as M, DAX, R, Python or ArcGIS) or an interest in developing them.  You will be encouraged to experiment, learn additional skills and, as far as possible, select the most appropriate tools and languages for the task. Whilst it would be great to have someone who knows who we are, what we do and who we work with, it isn’t our greatest requirement.  We want the right person.  We can easily give you the context of our working environment. We need the right skillset and values. That is our priority. We do need someone to be professionally astute, an ambassador for the OPCC and CSP in working with a broad range of stakeholders, confident in their abilities, and able to understand and challenge complex information. Any experience of working with statutory operating frameworks in a public sector setting would be advantageous. In addition, as the data you will be working with will often be sensitive and shared from partners, a knowledge of data protection would also be beneficial. You will be required to work out of both the OPCC office at The Lawns, Cottingham, and the Safer Hull office at Witham, Hull, enabling you to develop close working relationships with both teams.  However, we work to the ethos of being an‘Employer of Choice’ and therefore do operate agile working which can accommodate flexible working requests.
