**DESCRIPTION** We are looking for a talented Engine Sub-System Technical Specialist Engineer to join our team specialising in Engineering for our Power Systems Business Unit in Daventry, United Kingdom. This role is classified as hybrid, requiring on-site attendance two days per week. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: + Lead Engineering Projects: Manage the design and validation of engine sub-system components/systems from concept to production and field operation for the entire range of PSBU products including new and current product. + Develop Best Practices: Create and enhance best practices for engine sub-system components to ensure high standards and efficiency. + Mentor Team Members: Coach the wider team and junior engineers, fostering their skill and knowledge development. + Coordinate Across Functions: Serve as a central point of coordination and decision-making between product engineers, customer teams, purchasing, suppliers, and manufacturing. + Collaborate with Stakeholders: Gather input from technical managers, project leaders, and supplier partners to deliver quality product decisions. + Improve Processes: Apply and refine processes and tools such as ESW, iDFMEA, FIRG, 7-step problem solving and design review checklists to support high-quality decision-making. + Lead Smaller Projects: Independently lead smaller business impact projects or manage complex components, products, systems, or services with full accountability to the project team. + Transfer Knowledge: Coordinate and direct work among technicians and temporary student employees, assisting in the transfer of knowledge to less experienced engineers and influencing technical direction within the project team. **RESPONSIBILITIES** To be successful in this role you will need the following: + Technical Expertise: Strong technical skills and intuition in internal combustion engines, with the ability to design and validate components and systems, particularly in engine lubrication, cooling, breather systems, and base engine components (block and attachments, cylinder head, camshaft, ancillary and fan drives). + Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: A detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, capable of developing component or sub-system level rig tests to achieve low to no engine fuel burn validation. + Project Management and Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple project priorities and stakeholders, work across global development sites, cross-functional teams, and different cultures, with excellent organisation and time management skills. + Communication and Adaptability: Effective communication skills for technical presentations, running effective meetings, holding others to agreed actions, and adaptability to work in future transitions to hybrid and alternative fuel systems. **QUALIFICATIONS** Education/Experience: + A mechanical or automotive engineering degree is required. + Experience working in a heavy-duty engine or automotive engineering team is advantageous. **Job** Engineering **Organization** Cummins Inc. **Role Category** Hybrid **Job Type** Exempt - Experienced **ReqID** 2411143 **Relocation Package** No
