COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:
Our client is a well-established high profile and successful "light fabrication" manufacturing business. This role represents an excellent career opportunity for an experienced Factory Manager, or highly experienced production / manufacturing / operations manager . The successful candidates will be responsible for a head count of around 30 across two production facilities within the same site.
You’ll be responsible for a "light fabrication" manufacturing environment, and will manage the implementation of manufacturing programmes and staff plans. You will also be responsible for the managing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the plant and machinery, materials acquisition, and thecommunication of daily outputs and targets.
KEY DUTIES&RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead day to day management of the facility
* Liaising with master resource planner and meeting agreed targets
* Ensuring clarity of requirements from each project, through daily effective communication with installation teams and fixers
* Ensure that the required product (parts) are available to enable delivery of completed product on time
* Allocate task and projects to all factory personnel in a timely manner with all required information
* Publish short term (weekly) plan for production workloads and staffing hours to ensure maximum effectiveness
* Provide short-term cutting plans and respond to changing circumstances
* Ensure‘next day’ factory requestion requests are passed to production manager in a timely manner
* Provide accurate reporting information on factory output for each project
* Ensure robust quality assurance audits are in place and conducted, and that all completed materials are signed off
* Ensure compliance with factory QA systems at all stages of production
* Ensure daily machine safety checks are carried out to the correct standards, and that machines are maintained appropriately, and that ‘lean downs’ are completed and signed off by operators
* Ensure all finished items are stored appropriately and are in the appropriate holding areas
* Ensure dispatched products are accurately recorded and safely transported
* Ensure safety scheduled audits are carried out
* Ensure compliance with all safety procedures within the production, storage, and other related arears (including fire related safety procedures and evacuations.
* Ensure adequate stocks of consumables are available and that any required materials are ordered in advance through the buyer.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
* Ideally a degree or similar qualification in production, manufacturing, materials science, engineering or a related field, or strong demonstrable experience in a similar role.
* Experience of light fabrication manufacturing processes would be an advantage
* Technical and/or production-based certifications would be helpful, e.g. a Certificate in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Level 3 or Level 5 Certificate in Operations Management.
* Proven experience within a similar Production / Factory / Plant Management role
* Excellent understanding of lean manufacturing
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel to support work-in-progress and production schedules
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) systems
* Ability to operate all manufacturing or production line equipment

From £40,000 to £50,000 PA (Depending on experience) + Benefits including Discretionary bonus. Hours: 8am to 4.30 Mon-Thurs and 8am to 3.30 on
