It serves a population of around 570,000 people, a figure that can increase significantly with visitors during the busiest times of the year. A teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School. As the Director of Midwifery, you will be at the forefront of delivering safe, compassionate, high-quality care while working as part of the perinatal quadrumvirate to align strategic and operational goals and ensuring that our maternity services remain 'good' as rated by the CQC. Your leadership will shape the professional development of midwives, advocate for the highest standards of care for our women and birthing people and drive the continuous improvement of our services. You will provide professional leadership, guiding our services with compassion and excellence and working with key stakeholders such as the Maternity&Neonatal Voices Partnership, local and regional systems fostering a positive culture of safety and learning. The ideal candidate will have experience driving strategic change and fostering an inclusive, positive work culture, along with exceptional communication skills to motivate and inspire teams to deliver outstanding care.
