Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
The main purpose of this role is to work with the InGAME team and other partners to investigate media archiving and collections engagement through digital and immersive experiences. The goal is to define value, methods and challenges relating to the digital archiving of immersive and temporal experiences, bringing together academics, practitioners, industry, and archivists. The role will also involve mapping the scope of such work to develop plans for future funding bids in response to the UKRI’s announcement that it intends to invest in cultural and heritage institutions.
We need a Research and Development Fellow to work closely with the InGAME team, academic researchers, industry partners, archivists, digital preservation specialists, and especially with the management group and InGAME’s new creative content producers, in order investigate the potential for the preservation and archiving of immersive experiences.You will be employed by the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law and the School of Art and Design at the University of Dundee and based in the Vision Building on The Waterfront in the City of Dundee in Scotland, with the InGAME project team. The post holder will report to Professor Christopher Murray (School of Humanities, Social Science and Law) and Professor Anita Taylor (Dean of the School of Art and Design) at the University Dundee, who are both Co-Directors of InGAME. You will work under the direction of Sean Taylor (Director of InGAME).
The Appointment will be offered on a fixed-term basis, with funding currently available until 30 September 2023.
